Classical Conversations

Classical Conversations started today! =) YAY!!!!!! I had so much fun! This is what we did: We started of the day memorizing our history sentence which is....... In 1492, Columbus made the first of four trips to the Caribbean on three Spanish ships named the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria. (I typed that without looking) Next we worked on Latin, we learned that "sine" means without, "per" means through, "apud" means with and "in" means in.  Then we did Science and we learned about the eye. We also learned about the three types of tissue, connective, muscle and nerve.  We worked on our states and capitals. My mom is one of my teachers and my other teacher's name is Mrs. Howland. Everything went really well and I can't wait till next week!

Classical Conversations

This year, AC and I are going to be part of CC. (See title because I'm too lazy to type) It's a home school program where you meet with your group once a week and you bring all of your assignments home and do them over the week. It's based around a method of teaching called Classical Education. (Who would have guessed?!) Which is too complicated for me to describe without boring you to death. :)

UP Bike Trip

So, I went on the bike trip and it rocked!!!!! I don't think I have ever had so much fun!! (And have been so tired at the same time) The only bad thing was it rained when we were supposed to go canoeing. :( I was really looking forward to that part. Our basic day consisted of get up, eat breakfast, bike about 10 miles, eat lunch, bike another 10 miles, hang out at camp, eat dinner, crash in our tents. We camped at Otter Lake campground. Near Munising, MI. My dad drove one of the buses, so I got to go early to the church and choose my seat! That's one of the reasons that it's awesome to have a dad that drives buses, farm equipment, you name it!

Robotics Camp

Last week I got to do a robotics camp through 4H. It was really fun and really cool. I was on a team with two other girls and got to build and program NXT robots. Ours was the fastest :), mainly because of the design. Ours had three wheels, two were motorized and one wasn't. The two motorized ones were on the side and the non-motorized one trailed behind, allowing it to turn quickly and sharply. Our team won the team award for good teamwork. (duh) It was a really good experience. I think I will be starting FLL in the fall. (First Lego League)
Our robot's name was Little Lady. :)

Summer

Do you ever get this feeling about summer? All bottled up inside of you ready to burst out!!!! To swim and just have fun?! That feeling is growing inside of me everyday.....epically because it was 100 degrees out on Tuesday!!!!!! :O Then it was 80 degrees on Wednesday......which is just perfect. :) Now today is gloomy and rainy. :(
This summer I am going on a bike trip to the UP.....in case somebody doesn't know what that is, it is the upper peninsula of Michigan. (Above the mitten) I'm going with my church, we are going in the church's buses, then we will camp. The rest of the week we will take day bike trips to different places and the return to the camp site. It's going to be AWESOME!!!!!!!!

My violin

Today I played my violin at church. A lot of senior citizens gave money towards youth group trips and so the youth group kids (Which I am a part of) gave an appreciation banquet. After everyone ate the delicious pork loin, baked potatoes and green beans we gave a little "talent show". I played the songs "How great thou art" and "Amazing Grace". Other kids sang and played instruments. The senior citizens really enjoyed it and I am glad we could put it on. Afterwords some ladies came over and told me that the pastor's wife (Who probably was pastor a while ago) played the violin but she passed away. Tomorrow my Dad is going to the fields!!!! :) PRAISE THE LORD!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go Fly a Kite

Today I flew my kite. The tail had been broken earlier but my Mom helped me fix it. Then we took it across the road to the football field where we flew it. It was so much fun!! :)

Me flying my kite.
And here is my kite flying in the grey, grey sky.

Then we decided to make AC's hippo an aviator....in the background you can see where my dad went to high school.
Ready for take off!

The farm.

Because today is a gloomy day and I can't really go outside to take pictures of the town I am going to write about the farm. Our farm is on the outskirts of Kanawha. Which is the town we live in. A new shed was recently constructed. There is a lot of equipment, so I might not post pictures of all of it. Just the most important stuff. Like the combine. :) These pictures are when we were harvesting.

A blurry picture of my grandpa.... sorry!!!

My Dad and AC.
The stock chopper. (It chops the stocks of corn, once we are finished harvesting)

The grain cart emptying into the semi.

The combine. :)
Buddy and I have been learning to drive the tractors. It's pretty easy in the fields. All of us kids like to ride in the semi to go to the elevator. Where we dump the corn/soy beans. I don't know why the pictures are blurry. Maybe it's dust. Sorry about that!
